Democracy and Liberalism

The implementation of democracy and more liberal laws created a pro-feminist facade within Argentine government that lacked actual substance. Despite the fact that democracy allows all citizens to vote for representatives that promote their interests, many elected officials, especially those in gubernatorial or legislative positions struggle to comprehend the full scope of femicide and properly address it through public policy initiatives.

In the areas where the Argentine government lacks, Non-governmental organizations work to maintain the values of democracy and liberalism within Argentina. For example, when government officials fail to recognize and effectively work to counter the prevalence of domestic violence and femicide against Argentine women, NGOs, including, but not limited to La Casa del Encuentro (which translates to "the meeting house") work to provide data that fully acknowledges the scope and effects of violence against women.

By understanding the weaknesses of the government and Argentine culture, which is shaped by patriarchy, the NiUnaMenos movement will draw attention to the prevalence of these kinds of violence, which will ultimately bring an end to its reign in Argentina.

Indifference is also violence

Without detailed data reporting the ubiquity of femicide and domestic violence in Argentina, these issues will continue to be underacknowleged, and the government will not be held accountable for their lackluster efforts on the matter.

Without a proper understanding of the issue itself, people cannot learn to appreciate survivors for their courage and bravery, as well as the work of organizations to improve these situations. This type of awareness must begin at the federal level to ensure effectiveness.

However, due to a general lack of interest, both within Argentina and around the globe, NGOs, like La Casa Del Encuentro struggle to convince the masses of their importance, which is reflected in their choices of elected representatives and legislative agenda.
